Current Region V Vice President Todd Culpepper of Jackson Parish presided over the meeting. PJAL President Mike McLeod of Beauregard Parish also addressed the crowd. He thanked those in attendance for their continued support to the Police Jury Association and their constituents. He also invited members to attend the PJAL Convention February 20-22, 2013 in Lake Charles. In addition, Police Jury Association Executive Director Roland Dartez gave a brief summary of the PJAL's triumphs in the recent legislative session. He also commended Jackson Parish State Representative Jim Fannin for the passage of his House bill that will bond out over 325 million dollars of rural road work over the next three years. He then thanked those present for their persistence in making their communities better and moving our state forward.

After the business session was concluded, a special award of gratitude was given on behalf of the Jackson Parish Police Jury and the Executive Board of the Police Jury Association to Dr. Charles Garrett's widow and son: Ann and Chuck Garrett. Dr. Garrett served on the leadership committee of the PJAL. Dr. Garrett's vision set up membership service options on health care, workers compensation and deferred compensation. He was very active with his community and the PJAL and is greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
